Lanesboro - The new steamer owned by Fred James made its trial trip to the island and back Thursday, April 16, with 15 men on board. They say it was a delightful ride. F.H. Pride has enlarged and improved his steam launch, "Lalla Rooch," and supplied it with a new engine.

Glenwood - Fishing seems to be the leading sport at present Quite a number of fine trout are being caught.

Franklin - Some person with malicious intent put cayenne pepper in a kettle of syrup in Oliver Warner's sugar camp, thus spoiling the whole. Several other depredations have been committed lately and as the community is not entirely in the dark as to who the offender is the law may take his course.

Lynn - Our enterprising merchant, Mr. Greenwood, has set some hitching posts in front of his store, which have long been needed; do not tie your horses to the stoop now.

Fairdale - We need no more new roads in Jessup; we have more now than we can keep in good condition.

Susquehanna - The exact locality of the line separating the boroughs of Lanesboro and Susquehanna seems to be unknown, and surveyors will soon be sent out to find it.

Susquehanna County- Bothersome county line: For years there has been trouble over the line between Lackawanna and Susquehanna counties in the vicinity of Greenfield. In order to settle the matter, the courts of both counties have appointed a commission of surveyors, as follows: A.B. Dunning, County Surveyor of Lackawanna; L.D. Benson, County Surveyor of Susquehanna, and W.H. Sturdevant, Surveyor of Luzerne.
